Tough-Baby-Picture

Ooh. A Tough Guy, Huh?

This is the GRIT3: AKA the “Idaho 500”.  This giant Southern Loop of Idaho motorcycle trails covers less than 600 miles in 5 stages/days, but it takes on 327 miles of rugged trail in the standard route, plus an additional ~223 miles of mostly advanced special test trails as options. If you are up to it, you could do 100 miles of Idaho single track for 5 stages in a row. The advanced special test trail options offered in this loop are fitting for an A level rider to enjoy on a through route. The main route is not generally extreme, just most difficult. A “B” level rider can survive them, but will get physically fragged trying to stay on schedule. But don’t expect much rest road riding on this loop even on the standard route. You will only be on roads about 20% of the time. The max gas range required is 129 miles. But with so many miles of trail, that gas will flow faster than normal. You can start at any point you desire and still receive Finisher Certification.

For the few radical expedition experts out there, the new expert-only GRIT4, middle-Idaho loop intersects with GRIT3 at Lowman. That enables a 10 stage RAD GRIT challenge by combining GRIT3 and GRIT4 in a figure 8 for a potential goal of 1000 miles of Idaho single track if maxed out.
